About

An independent guide to bifacial solar

No inventory, no sales quotas, no hype. Just clear answers about when a bifacial panel's rear side actually earns its place.

BifacialPanels is a reader-supported resource focused on bifacial solar panels for US buyers — homeowners, off-grid builders, RV and cabin owners, and small ground-mount projects. We publish plain-language guides and a free gain calculator to help you decide whether bifacial makes sense for your specific setup.

What we believe

Bifacial panels are genuinely useful — but they're routinely over-sold. The rear face only adds meaningful energy when light can actually reach it: a tilted, elevated array over a bright, open surface. On a flush roof or a flat RV roof, the gain is often small. We'd rather tell you that up front than inflate a number to make a sale.

How we stay honest

  • No invented prices.Prices change constantly and some retailer programs forbid displaying them, so we don't quote them.
  • No fake reviews or ratings. We don't publish star ratings, "best overall" badges, or "we tested it" claims unless we have genuinely done hands-on testing.
  • Conservative estimates. Our calculator always shows a range, never a single inflated figure. See our methodology for exactly how it works.
  • Transparent commercial links. When we link to a retailer we may earn an affiliate commission, which never changes our recommendations. Read the full affiliate disclosure.

What we are not

We don't sell panels, hold inventory, or operate a marketplace, and we're not a licensed installer or electrician. Our content is general educational information, not engineering, financial, or installation advice. Always confirm specifications and suitability with the manufacturer or a qualified professional before buying.
